MotoAmerica and the AMA have amended the technical regulations, and released Technical Bulletin 04-2016 to allow the use of qualifying tires during Superpole 2. The qualifying tire must be provided by Dunlop at the track. However, IF the tire was not used in the previous round, it may be used during Superpole 2 at any round of the current championship year. The procedure is described below.

The 12 Superbike/Superstock 1000 competitors that are eligible to participate in Superpole 2 will be allowed to use one (1) qualifying tire which will be marked by a tire sticker separate from the rider’s standard allocation. The Superpole 2 qualifying tire sticker will be distributed and recorded by tire control staff before Superpole 2 begins. The qualifying tire does not count toward the rider’s allocation. In the instance a qualifying tire is not used, and the rider wishes to use it at a future round, the tire must be returned immediately to MotoAmerica Technical Control for quarantine and will be returned at the next round.

Dunlop will provide the top 10 riders, as listed after Free Practice 3, with a qualifying tire free of charge. All other Superbike/Superstock 1000 riders will be offered a qualifier at normal rear race-tire pricing.

At Round 1, the Top 12 Qualifying Shootout, is considered Superpole 2 and will be subject to the same regulations.
