The American Motorcyclist Association and MotoAmerica have released the 2016 Technical Regulations. Notable changes are summarized below. However, it is each entrant’s responsibility to read and comply with the entire regulation here

Section 2.3.7.1: Tire allocations modified. Due to 2015 research, there will be lower allocations for Superbike, Superstock 1000 and Supersport classes.

Section 2.3.11: It is the team’s responsibility to ensure that the transponder is working properly and any machine without a working transponder is not allowed on the circuit.

Section 2.4.8.1: Due to safety concerns, oil containing engine covers may not be secured with aluminum bolts even if the bolts were present on the stock motorcycle. This rule applies to all classes.

Section: 2.4.9.1: Rear tire temperature and pressure sensors may be used.

Section: 2.4.9.3: The American Superbike Kit System may only be used by those who participated in the 2015 MotoAmerica Superbike class and are using the same homologation year motorcycle. Teams may apply to extend the use of the 2015 American Superbike Kit for up to one season. Teams must contact [email protected] to obtain the exemption.

Section: 2.5.8.12: Stock transmission shafts and gear sets must be used. Shimming, undercutting and surface treatments are allowed.

Section: 2.5.8.15: Radiator may be changed with aftermarket or additional radiator provided it fits in standard location and no frame modifications, or external fairing appearance modifications are necessary.

Section 2.5.8.16: No additional heat shielding is allowed for the airbox.

Section 2.5.10: Only one complete motorcycle is allowed. A pre-assembled spare frame is also allowed.

Section 2.5.10.2: The upper and lower fork clamps must remain as homologated.

Section 2.5.10.4: Rear suspension linkage must remain as homologated.

Section 2.6.8.2: No material may be added or removed from the cylinder head.

Section 2.6.8.4: The cam chain tensioner must remain as homologated.

Section 2.6.8.5: No modifications are allowed to the cylinders.

Section 2.6.8.5: Crankcases must remain as homologated.

Section 2.6.8.16: No additional heat shielding is allowed for the airbox.

Section 2.6.10: One primary motorcycle may be used with a complete back up to be used only if the MotoAmerica technical director declares the primary motorcycle unrepairable.

Section 2.7.8.2: No material may be added or removed from the cylinder head.

Section 2.7.8.4: Cam chain tensioner must remain as homologated.

Section 2.7.8.5: Cylinders must remain as homologated.

Section 2.7.8.11: Crankcases must remain as homologated.

Section 2.7.8.16: No additional heat shielding is allowed for the airbox.

Section 2.9.10: The riders clothing must include the rider’s name, emergency contact and blood type adhered to the left side lining adjacent to the main zipper.

Section: 2.13.4: KTM RC Cup number plate colors are TBD for 2016. An announcement will be made when the determination is completed.
